? ? ? The 2023 Pacific Rim Health Innovations Conference (PRHIC) commenced in Guangzhou on September 22, gathering the world’s prestigious universities and institutions with its spotlight on healthcare advancements.?

Gao Song, President of Sun Yat-sen University, said at the opening ceremony, “As a cradle of leaders and pioneers of the future, we stress the importance of interdisciplinary and international collaboration. The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (FAH-SYSU) has set an example in this regard.”?

? ? ? He also expressed hopes that the FAH-SYSU would promote medical innovations through interdisciplinary and international cooperation in the future.

? ? ? Xiao Haipeng, President of FAH-SYSU, said in his opening speech, “I hope this conference serves as a platform for fruitful collaborations, and enduring groundbreaking ideas. Together, we have the power to shape the future of medicine and create a legacy of holistic, compassionate, and advanced healthcare for generations to come.”

? ? ? He added that in an era of transformation, AI is rapidly becoming the backbone of predictive diagnostics and personalized treatments, and data science is enabling us to unearth patterns and correlations we have never imagined possible.

? ? ? Co-hosted by FAH-SYSU, the University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley), and the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU), the conference is being held from September 21 to 23, focusing on the topics of training physician scientists, robotic surgery, and digital health.

? ? ? During the first symposium with the theme of “East Meets West in Physician Scientist Pathway”, Xiao gave a speech highlighting the necessity of cultivating future physician scientists.

? ? ? David Lubarsky, CEO of UC Davis Health, made a speech themed “The moonshot: the future of health care”, discussing the future trend of human healthcare driven by technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, AI, medical technology as well as philosophies such as health equity and the evolution of patient treatment concepts.
