The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Guangyan Cai, Vice President of CSN. Prof. Xueqing Yu, on behalf of the tenth Executive Committee of CSN, delivered his work report, in which he reiterated that the priorities of the committee was striving to be top-notch, remaining to be down-to-earth, and facilitating the cultivation of young talents. To be top-notch, Chinese healthcare practitioners shall pursue the frontier of international academia, improve the quality and competency of nephrology research, thus earning Chinese nephrologists a greater say in the international community. Meanwhile the CSN bears in mind the development of less developed regions in central and western China, especially those rural and remote areas. The future of China’s nephrology lies in the hand of junior nephrologists. In that sense, the Society is expected to vigorously promote the cultivation of young talents – we set up Research Foundation for the Young Nephrologists and financially supported their engagement in international exchange, in the hope of laying a solid and sustainable foundation for the advancement of nephrology in China. On behalf of the APC-ISPD and ISPD respectively, Prof. Nayak and Prof. Teitelbaum expressed their congratulations on the hosting of this Meeting, and appreciation on the work done by the CSN as well as Chinese nephrologists. Participants at home and abroad were impressed by this large-scale, high quality, and educative scientific feast.
