On the morning of January 31, 2020, Dr. Wu Jianfeng, Dr. Si Xiang, and Dr. Yi Hui, medical team members in Wuhan from the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University successfully rescued a patient with pneumothorax during a ward rounds inspection at Hankou Hospital. The 75-year-old male patient was admitted to Hankou Hospital due to fever, cough, and shortness of breath. His spouse and children living with him were being treated in Hankou hospital for infection with Coronavirus disease as well .

This is the first successful treatment of patients in critical condition with bedside ultrasound developed by medical team members from the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. The application of this technology has greatly improved the bedside medical treatment ability of critical cases.
