On April 9, 2018, Professor Claus Bachert, Member?of the Board of Directors for the World Allergy Organization,?Director of European research center for allergic diseases, Vice President of the German Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Head of the Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and the Upper Airway Research Laboratory at the University of Ghent, Belgium, visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. Professor Xiao Haipeng, the Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University and the President of the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Professor?Wen Weiping and Professor Zeng Jinsheng, the Vice Presidents of the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, extended a warm welcome to Prof. Claus Bachert. Prof.?Xiao introduced the general situation and development strategy of our hospital?to Prof.?Bachert, and then he communicated and discussed with him on cooperation issues. In the future, we will establish more co-operations by exchanging students, applying for projects and publishing papers together. Prof. Xiao hoped that by virtue of Prof. Bachert’s influence in the world, we can introduce the standard clinical norms of ENT department of Ghent university, and strengthen the scientific research cooperation with them, so as to further improve the strength and the influence of our?ENT?department.

In the afternoon, under the host?by?Prof.?Wen?Weiping, who is the Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University?and the?President?of the ENT Hospital, Prof.?Bachert gave a lecture on 'Endotype driven care pathways in chronic rhinosinusitis" in the ENT?department. In the strongly academic atmosphere, all the doctors and graduate students of ENT department took active part in the discussion with Prof. Bachert.?
