Introduction

The pediatric group in our hospital was established in 1950s.The department is established in 1985, that is one of the earliest pediatric surgery department in China. The first director is Pro. Lai Bingyao, who is the one of the founders of pediatric surgery in China. Now we hold the leading position in Guangdong Province and are also of great significance in China. There are 52 designated beds in our department now. Each year, there are more than 2000 operations performed and nearly 2800 patients serviced in our department.

Clinical Services???

Our department mainly focuses on the treatment of pediatric?digestive system, urinary system, malformation of vessel, organ transplantation, solid tumor, and especially on intractable and intensive cases. Our technique and achievement of diagnosis and treatment have already taken the leading level in China. Our study on treatment of hypospadias and biliary atresia won the Guangdong science and Technology Achievement Award. In recent years, we take the lead in da Vinci robotic surgery in South China with excellent results. Now we have already taken the first place in the amount of robotic surgery in domestic pediatric surgery.?Our technique of robotic surgery also has taken the leading level at home.

Education

We always pays much attention on teaching. There are more than 10 doctors and 50 masters graduated from our department until now. We have already trained more than 100 refresher doctors and nurses. Most of them have already been the key personnel in their hospitals. As one of the first resident standardized training bases of pediatric surgery, we have already trained more than 10 residents with 100%?pass rate. At the same time, we also undertake the teaching of domestic and international undergraduates.

Research

We have gotten dozens of science funds provided by Ministry of science, Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City. We have acquired Guangdong Health Department Science awards and Guangdong science and Technology Achievement Award. In recent 5 years, there are more than 10 papers published in the SCI, dozens of papers published in domestic core journals by our staffs.
