Introduction?

The Department of Obstetrics is dedicated to providing accessible, quality prenatal care and delivery services. There are 99 beds and more than 5 000 deliveries annually here. Average annual outpatients are more than 134?000. It consists of five areas including prenatal ward, delivery room, postnatal ward, fetal medicine center and Huangpu branch. Our comprehensive clinics include high-risk pregnancy clinic, fetal medicine clinic, gestational diabetes clinic, gestational induced hypertension clinic, high-risk postpartum clinic, gestational diabetes day ward and other special clinics. It is one of the first centers that get the qualifications of prenatal diagnosis in Guangdong Province. It is the?critical maternal care center, the guidance center of special technics of prenatal diagnosis, and the prenatal and postnatal care center in Guangdong Province at present.

Clinical Services?

The Department of Obstetrics has rich experience in dealing with obstetrical common disease, acute and severe disease and has established standardized diagnosis and treatment. It can independently carry out all kinds of routine operations of a tertiary hospital and can rescue pregnant women complicated with difficult or critical diseases. Further, our managements of fetal monitoring, multiple pregnancy, gestational diabetes mellitus, and fetal anemia are at the leading level in China. We excel at sophisticated intrauterine operations, such as intrauterine transfusion, bipolar cord coagulation, radiofrequency ablation, fetal reduction with intracardiac KCl injection and amnioreduction.

Education

The Department of Obstetrics has 3 doctoral supervisors and 7 master supervisors. More than 50 postgraduate students have finished their training in past 5 years. Those graduate students and advanced training physicians have been highly praised for the skillful clinical practice abilities, and most of them become the key staffs in their hospitals. As guidance center, we cultivated and trained more than 50 advanced doctors each year. We are always looking forward to recruiting advanced doctors who are interested in maternal fetal medicine nationwide.

Research

The Department of Obstetrics has cooperated and researched with several well-known domestic and foreign institutions such as Affiliated Hospital of Peking University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. We have undertaken more than 30 national and provincial scientific research funds and published more than 100 papers in Chinese and SCI magazines. Research in the Department of Obstetrics is focused on high risk pregnancies and prenatal diagnosis and includes: gestational diabetes mellitus, multiple pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia and so on.
