Biography
Dr. Niansheng Yang is currently a professor of medicine, director of Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, and vice-director of Department of Medicine, First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University. His research covers macrophages, cytokines and cell signaling in progressive renal lesions and recently in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.
He has been the editor chief for 3 textbooks. He has undertaken 4 grants from National Science Foundation and published 30 publications in SCI-cited peer-reviewed international journals, including Kidney Int, Arthritis Rheumatol and J Autoimmun. He was the recipient of the Award for Author of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of China, China National Science and Technology Advance Award, and Chinese Medical Science Award from the Chinese Medical Association. He is a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Rheumatology Society and vice-president of the Guangdong (Province) Society of Rheumatology.
