Biography
Professor Pei received his medical degree from Southeast University in China and PhD degree in Medicine from the University of Hong Kong. He had two postdoctoral trainings in USA, first at the National Institute of Health, where he studied the environmental aspects of Parkinson’s disease and received the NIH Fellow Award for Research Excellence, and then at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he started his career studying the molecular bases of Parkinson disease. His primary clinical and research interests are in neurodegenerative disorders, specifically Huntington's disease,?Parkinson disease and related movement disorders, with the goal of unraveling the molecular and cellular mechanisms leading to neurodegenerative disorders. He is the vice chair, the committee of guangdong evidence-based medicine, executive member of steering committee, Chinese Huntington's Disease Network (CHDN).?He serves on several editorial boards?including Journal of Pineal Research and Current Treatment Options in Neurology. He is a member of society for neuroscience, USA,?associate member, Europe Huntington's Disease Network?and member of task force on the definition of Huntington's Disease, International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
