Biography

Dr. Su Peiqiang is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, and his clinical focus includes scoliosis/kyphosis, cervical spondylosis, thoracolumbar spinal stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, spinal osteotomy, complete resection of spinal tumors, posterior atlas axis fixation, and minimally invasive spinal surgery. In particular, his expertise is in precise placement of pedicle screws, which is the core technology of spinal surgery. Collaborating with the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Prof. Su's team carries out skeletal malformations census and has set up a popular science base of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis in Guangdong Province. For basic laboratory research, Prof. Su's team identifies new pathogenic genes, elucidates the underlying pathogenic mechanism, and helps instruct patients to give birth to healthy babies through preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). Prof. Su is also collaborating several excellent teams from Harvard University, UTSW, TSRH, to carry out joint study. Three doctoral students have completed 1 to 2 years of joint research at Harvard University.
