Introduction

The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the national Ministry of education doctoral degree granting units, the National General Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine demonstration unit, Vice president of the association of traditional Chinese medicine and Western Medicine Association of Guangdong and a number of Specialized Committee chairman unit.

Concentrated medicine, combination of TCM and Western medicine, medical teaching and scientific research as a whole. Just like the Luo Zhiqiang, Yang Shouyu and Li Junbiao, they are the famous doctors in China and Guangdong Province and have an important role in the fields of TCM in the Southern China even all over the country.

Clinical?Services

Department of traditional Chinese medicine include Outpatient Department of TCM, Inpatient department of TCM, orthopedics of TCM and department of acupuncture and moxibustion. The department of TCM have almost 22 specialties, which include cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, liver and gallbladder, under the breath, kidney disease, cancer rehabilitation, geriatric, rheumatology, gynecology, pediatrics, osteoarthritis, encephalopathy sequelae, etc. We have so many treatment projects of TCM, which include massage, moxibustion, moxibustion, Gua Sha, walking irrigation, external application of Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine iontophoresis, little needle knife, the dialectical nursing of TCM. There are nearly 500000 out-patients and more than 1 thousand in-patients in our department each year.?

Education

Taking charge of the most of the teaching of traditional Chinese medicine of the students and undergraduate of Sun Yat-sen University, as well as the clinical teaching task of traditional Chinese medicine, students are perennial received from abroad such as Sweden and Finland, the United States, Brazil. We have established the exchange and cooperation relationship with the universities among Hongkong, ?Germany and ?Australia.

Research

Relying on Sun Yat-sen university medical research strong background, the current research fund undertakes the Department of traditional Chinese medicine at all levels of the National Natural Science Fund of more than 20, there have been three results of third-prize Guangdong Province scientific and technological achievements, won a first prize of Guangdong province science and technology progress of traditional Chinese medicine, one by the State Education Commission of science and Technology Progress Award third-prize. In the past five years, a total of nearly more than and 200 articles were published, including more than 50 articles published in SCI.

International Collaboration

As a doctoral and postgraduate training units, our department has trained more than 10 medical doctoral or post doctoral, nearly 100 masters, most of them have become a leader in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine combined with the province, clinical research unit.
