Introduction

The department of Interventional oncology was founded in 2011. The department have achieved deeper and widely academic impact，as the backbone unit of National Key Clinical Department。The department have doctoral degree program, master degree program and a post-doctoral research station. There are 30 staffs in the department including 1 Professor and Doctoral Tutor,，1 associate professor and Master's Tutor, 3 attending doctors and 3 residents. There are 20 ward beds with total operation amount more than 1500 per-year in the Department. There are specialist outpatient service from Monday to Friday and expert outpatient service from Monday to Wednesday.

Clinical Services ? ?

The department’s clinical expertise are transcatheter chemoembolization of tumor arteries, cryotherapy, RFA, microwave ablation, radioactive particle implantation, Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Stent Shunt (TIPSS), port catheter system implantation, endovascular aortic repair(EVAR), system chemotherapy and molecular targeting therapy, etc. Those patients who suffered with portal hypertension and cirrhosis, carotid body tumor, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, aortic aneurysm or aortic dissection can benefit good therapy effect by above-mentioned interventional operations.

Education

There are one doctoral tutor and one master tutor in the department. Three M.D. students and six postgraduate students had graduated in the past five years. The department is the base of residency programme of Guangdong Province. The department was the principal unit of National Excellent courses of Ministry of Education. Several teaching research projects had been completed in the department.

Research

The research of our department focus on clinical and basic research of hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, including novel clinical practice and molecular mechanism study. Our department have undertaken six projects of National Natural Science Foundation, more than twenty projects of supported by the Ministry of Education or Guangdong Province. Total research funding is already more than 5 millions RMB. There are more than 200 publications including 40 SCI articles in the department.
